Analysing Interviews

ANALYSING A BAD INTERVIEW

The video above is an interview about a 25 year old male grime artist/producer which was recorded in 2010. The video is of very poor quality and the lighting is dull which also prevents the audience from being able to see the interviewee's face. Instead of having a clear shot of the interviewee's face (Jme) you can only see the half of it throughout the almost 9 minute video and it also looks unclear, blurred and gloomy. During the video, Jme hardly looks at the camera. This suggests that he isnt engaged or interested in the interview and finds more interest in fixing his do-rag.

Furthermore, this interview looks like it hasnt been prepared or organised properly, hence why it looks so low budget and is being filmed in a vehicle. Also, at one point in the interview Jme puts on some music to create a better atmosphere when this should of been done by the interviewer himself.
The interviewer is relying solely on questions from the social networking site, Twitter as opposed to preparing any of his own questions.

However, one good point from this interview is that it included a cutaway from Jme's new video at the time which revealed that the interviewer had done some research and has some background knowledge about the artist and wanted to help promote his new music.

To conclude, the interview definitely lacks key techniques which make a good interview such as good lighting, clear speech, consistency, confidence and a good atmosphere. Besides the fact that the interviewer came with some background knowledge, the interview as a whole was unprofessional.

TV PRODUCTION

News Broadcast

In Tuesday's lesson, the class brought in various different newspaper articles such as articles about the new iPhone 6, drugs, soldiers and much more. Once the class was settled, one person was elected to be a news editor. A news editors job is to decide what stories should be used to talk about in the news. After this, the class sat down with the chosen news editor and dicussed what articles were the best and the most interesting and what order they should go in for when we would start presenting. We ended up choosing eight stories and then we went on to working out the set and then the production. After doing this two people were chosen to be presenters for the news and present the eight stories that had been chosen. There were also many other job roles for the rest of the class to take part in such as being a floor manager where you are responsible for giving information that you have been told by the director in the control room to the rest of the crew on the studio floor. The other jobs that were available included being a sound engineer who would ensure the microphones were attached to the presenters properly and that there were no problems with the sound, a vision mixer, production assistant and the director who is the coordinator of everything in the TV studio. The technology that was used in the lesson were microphones, cables, a playback monitor, audio mixer and a camera.

What Could Be Added To The Programme?
Next time, to make the programme more interesting, enjoyable and informable we could add video clips and include different sections for the different categories of news to also make it clearer.

Scottish Independence

The Scottish Independence Referendum is a political aim for the country to become an independent sovereign state. A third of Scotland's voters believe that Scotland should leave the UK. This is because they think that their economy would enhance and be better if it had a greater autonomy. Although, a great amount of Scotland's population disagree as they think that Scotland is a lot more secure being within the UK.

The YES Campaign
This website includes the verbs should, must and can which almost makes the audience feel obliged to vote yes to ensure that Scotland becomes an independent country as it will "unleash Scotland's great economic potential". The website also states important information that will appeal to all ages as it informs students that university tuition fees will continue to stay free.

The NO Campaign
The website http://www.bettertogether.net/the-facts is a No campaign website. This website is a lot brighter and more vibrant than the website that is for the Yes campaign as it includes the colours of the original union flag and makes everybody seem as a whole and that both countries should stay together. The website includes persuasive language and it has opinions as facts to get the attention of the target voters by making it sound appealing and beneficial to vote 'yes' as it will put them in a more comfortable position, economically, "we have all the amazing things that makes us Scotland and we also have the safety and security of being part of one of the biggest economies in the world".

To conclude, Scotland has been part of Great Britain since 1606 and if they were to split it would end a long history together. There is also a massive uncertainty on how the two countries will divide things between them such as the two nations' financial systems and how to also divide up debts.
If Scotland seperate from England, they could possibly fall into a pit of depression, job loss and spiral out of control, or they could end up being more succesful than ever. I believe that it would be better if Scotland were to stay. However, most likely, the majority of things will stay the same and Scotland will be able to cope on their own if they did end up leaving.
